Welcome to our research study

Sophie Forster's lab at the University of Sussex is researching how our brain activity is different when our minds wander.

To investigate this, we are running a study which will measure EEG activity from 50 people while they mind-wander and while they focus on a task. We hope you might want to be one of these 50 people!

Taking part will involve two EEG sessions at the University of Sussex, each taking 2 hours. You will have an EEG cap fitted, which involves getting gel in your hair, and then you will complete a computer task while we record your brain activity. If you participate in the full study (two EEG sessions and a questionnaire) you will recieve £40. You are free to walk away at any point if you wish to stop participating, and in this instance you'll be reimbursed for your time thus far at a rate of £10 per hour.

We are looking for people who are based on Sussex University Campus, and are likely to be available at short notice, to cover cancellations and no-shows. For cancellations, we will be able to offer slots with 1 day's notice, but in the case of no-shows, we will only be able to give about 30 minutes notice. If you would like to be added to our stand-in list, and would like to be sent a text message when a slot is available, please fill in the form below.

The study will take place in Pevensey 2 on the University of Sussex Campus. To be a stand-in, you may need to be ready with half an hour's notice.

We are running three EEG sessions a day,
- Morning: 10am - 12pm
- Afternoon: 1pm - 3pm
- Evening: 4pm - 6pm
